An 82-year-old woman from Huntington Station was killed and two others were injured Tuesday afternoon when a car collided with two other vehicles in Woodbury, Nassau police said.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was a passenger in a 1983 Buick driven by an 82-year old man on Jericho Turnpike. The accident occurred at 12:30 pm, detectives said, when the westbound Buick collided with another westbound vehicle and then crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a Toyota SUV.
The woman hit her head and was pronounced dead at a local hospital sometime later, according to police. The driver of her car and a 57-year old woman who was driving the Toyota SUV were both taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries
Police shut down Jericho Turnpike for about a mile down, re-directing traffic to alternative routes.
