Motorcyclist Killed In Rego Park

Motorcyclist Dwan Gonzalez, age 44, was driving a Harley Davidson on the Long Island Expressway in Rego Park. Near Junction Bouldvard, at about 1 am, he was rear ended by a Mercedes. The driver of the Mercedes left Gonzalez to die on the highway and fled the scene. Police arrived, finding Gonzalez already dead on the highway. Police found the driver of the Mercedes, Shamel Campbell, age 26, of Freeport, eleven miles away in Rosedale. Campbell was taken to the police station, where his blood alcohol level was taken. It was more than double the legal limit. Campbell is being charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated unlicensed operation.
