An accident involving an SUV and a bicyclist left one woman dead in Nassau County in the town of Hicksville on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Nassau County Police, the accident occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. when Cari Widmyer, 43 and her father were riding their bicycles northbound on the side of New South Road. The two cyclists were struck by a Ford Explorer that was headed southbound. The SUV then hit a northbound Nissan Altima and then a house.
Cari Widmyer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and her 72-year old father was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for a knee injury
The driver and passenger inside the SUV were both treated for minor injuries. The driver of the Nissan Altima was uninjured in the accident.
The SUV has been impounded by Homicide Squad and the investigation is ongoing. The driver of the SUV has not been charged.
