Many residents in Huntington, Lindenhurst and New Hyde Park are concerned about the icy unplowed pathways that lead to the train stations. And with good reason, these walkways are often very dangerous. Residents have sent in numerous complaints informing them of the danger and yet nothing has been done so far. News 12 Long Island even called the towns, but only Garden City responded to say that the Merillon Avenue platform was owned by the MTA.
We have seen this problem in numerous places as we drive by train stations. This winter has been relentless and we can’t say we have been impressed with the clean-up. The fact that towns and the MTA have been put on notice and still done nothing is baffling. People can get seriously hurt. The MTA and towns or whatever party owns these areas are opening themselves up to law suits if they fail to do anything about it. They allegedly have been given notice many times.
