This video presented by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety shows the difference between a 1957 Chevy and a brand new one. Clearly, the '57 car is completely destroyed in this head on collusion. The safer vehicle, the new one provides driver and passenger protection. The old saying "cars were made better in the old days" is clearly wrong.

Trial Lawyers Have Contributed to Safer Cars on the Road

In the 50 years since US insurers organized the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, car crashworthiness has improved. Demonstrating this was a crash test conducted on Sept. 9 between a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air and a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. In a real-world collision similar to this test, occupants of the new model would fare much better than in the vintage Chevy.

"It was night and day, the difference in occupant protection," says Institute president Adrian Lund. “What this test shows is that automakers don't build cars like they used to. They build them better."

It is our belief at Goldstein & Bashner that the decrease in auto accidents and the severity of injuries from those accidents are a direct result of the long and tireless effort of trial lawyers.

It is only through the litigation process that auto makers were forced to deal with the lack of quality construction in their motor vehicles.

In Long Island the number of claims and lawsuits from car accidents is down. Part of this has to due with the increase in safety of newer vehicles. Lawyers while adding to the safety of consumers simultaneously saw the numbers of personal injury cases walking through the door decrease. In the end, the only goal of trial lawyers is to increase the safety of the public.
