The Long Island Expressway is one of the busiest roads on Long Island. It’s a vital artery, but whenever there is a lot of traffic the chances of a chain reaction accident happen. That’s what happened on the 30th of November.
At exit 59 in Ronkonkoma, there was a serious crash that shut down the west-bound lanes of the LIE during morning rush hour. Five vehicles were involved and it caused a backup that extended for miles. According to the police, a van struck two vehicles at the same time, and the resulting chaos got two more vehicles involved.
Fortunately, the injuries in this case were minor, but two people were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic was restored by 11 AM.
