New York City Teacher Accused of Sex with Student in Long Island Motel

Posted on Aug 07, 2011

A New York City schoolteacher is accused of having sex with a student at a Lynbrook motel, Nassau County Police said. Tara Driscoll, 33, of Bayshore, N.Y., was arrested Friday morning in Bethpage and charged with rape, authorities said.

Driscoll, who is a teacher at Campus Magnet High School in Cambria Heights, Queens, drove a male student— identified only as being younger than 17 — to the Capri Motel in Lynbrook on March 19, 2011, and had "sexual relations" with him, according to police. They say the victim remained quiet until his mother found out and contacted authorities.

Police made the arrest because of an interview with the boy, phone records, and a videotape, according to the criminal complaint filed with the court.

Driscoll was arraigned Friday, August 5,  in First District Court in Hempstead on charges of third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act, police said. She is due back in court August 15.

Police said Driscoll has not been suspended, but is not working with children.
