When you go to a health club there is certain responsibilities that the club must adhere to. Does your lawyer know about New York General Business Law 627 which directs health clubs to have a defibrillator.

If you have been involved in an accident at a health club you should be aware of the clubs responsibilities.

Section 627-a(1) of the New York General Business Law says that all health clubs with more than 500 people must maintain a defibrillator on the premises and have at least one trained person capable of using it. When you go to a health club you "assume certain risks". One of those risks is the inherent risk of cardiac arrest from working out. What is also assumed is poor judgement that is used by an employee using a defibrillator or a an incompetent employee. When you join a gym you must remember that a number of accidents that occur at a health club are not accidents that you can pursue legal claims for. The purpose of this article is to remind everybody that the law in New York is clear about health clubs maintaining proper life saving equipment.Make sure your club is in compliance.
