What is Digital Dating Abuse?

 

A: Digital Dating Abuse includes:
• Sending excessive or harassing texts or emails
• Manipulating a social networking page, or flooding a page with negative posts and comments
• "Sexting," which is sending nude photos or inappropriate messages

This abuse can take place during a relationship or after a breakup. It's important for teens and their parents to understand that this is abuse and have the tools to fight back. It is important to talk to your child and find out if they have a boyfriend or girlfriend that is using technology to abuse them, and provide them with tools to fight back and protect themselves. This may include legal recourse.
