We get asked this question a lot, and the good news is that it is very easy to fire your personal injury lawyer. Whether you think your lawyer is doing a horrible job, your personalities clash or you realize he or she is just not the right attorney for your case, you have the right to change lawyers at any time. In fact, you don't even need to tell your attorney.
If you want to change lawyers, find a new lawyer that you feel is the best to take over your case. Your new lawyer will then contact your old lawyer and they will work everything out themselves: transferring your files, splitting fees, etc. There are no additional fees for you to pay, the new lawyer must follow your original agreement. The two lawyers need to work out any fees our initial lawyer should get when the case settles or reaches a verdict.
