Can I fire my lawyer?

A: You have the right at any time to fire your lawyer. You are the boss and the lawyer works for you. If you don't like your lawyer for any reason--he doesn't return your calls, talks down to you or you just don't think he is doing a good job--then it's over. You do not even have to do the firing yourself. When you find a new lawyer, he or she will send your old lawyer a letter to notify them that you have terminated their services and hired a new lawyer.

Here's more good news:
If you hire a new lawyer you don't need to pay any extra fees. Any lawyer who works on your case, if they are entitled to payment, will share the fee in your initial agreement.
