Sexual assault of women continues to be a major problem at college campuses in New York and around the country. Recently, Governor Cuomo introduced new laws to help female students. They require all New York colleges to adopt a set of comprehensive procedures and guidelines to help women report sexual assault crimes as well as a uniform definition of consent of "Yes means yes." We support this but know even more needs to be done at colleges to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for female students.
